What Is the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge?

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is a time-limited demonstration program from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). It runs from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027, and provides eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries access to select GLP-1 medications at a predictable $50 monthly copay.

This program operates outside the standard Part D benefit — meaning it won't affect your normal prescription drug coverage or count toward your deductible or catastrophic coverage thresholds.

Which Medications Are Covered?

All doses and formulations of Wegovy are included — both the injectable and the new oral pill. This means you can work with your doctor to find the right dose and format without worrying about coverage gaps.

• Enrollment in a Medicare Part D plan or Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage
• BMI of 27 or higher with at least one weight-related condition (heart disease, prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, or others), OR BMI of 30 or higher

How to Enroll

Step 1: Talk to your doctor or telehealth provider about whether GLP-1 medication is right for you.

Step 3: Fill the prescription at a participating pharmacy after July 1, 2026. The $50 copay will apply automatically for eligible patients.
